Forest School Substitute Teachers (available immediately)

Employment Status: Independent Contractor

Location: Huchiun Ohlone Land (Castro Valley, Berkeley, Oakland, CA)

Wage: **$23/ hour

Hours: On call as needed

Abundant beginnings Substitute teachers

Our subs are critical to our community. On days when teachers or camp facilitators are not able to be present, Substitute Teachers (also known as Facilitator Fish) swoop in to save the day! 

Subs provide essential socio-emotional support to our students on days when their emotional attachment people cannot come to school. They support teachers to carry the rhythm of the day, lead activities, and make sure young ones are safe and joyful in their time with us.

We are excited to introduce a communal substitute teacher pool with fellow Forest Schools in community! We are hoping that by working together, we can provide more steady work and experience for substitute teachers. Abundant Beginnings is partnering with Escuelita del Bosque and Rice and Beans Cooperative for a shared sub pool! You can submit an application to sub for all three programs below.

requirements

• Vehicle and valid California driver's license preferred or have accessible rides to areas without public transit access

  • The majority of our locations are in nature and are unfortunately difficult to access via public transportation- we want to make sure you can get to us quickly and easily! 

• 2 years of childcare experience

  • Or relevant educational coursework

• In alignment with our founding principles
